Hood Warfare 2 is made by Trapstar Games, which the Steam store page lists as both developer and publisher. The studio runs trapstar.games. Complex noted that public information about the people behind the studio, and where they are based, is not available (Complex, October 13, 2026).

What was the original Hood Warfare?

Hood Warfare entered Steam Early Access on January 26, 2023 for $4.99. Set in Detroit, it featured the Bloods, Crips and a third gang, the Vatos, along with Turf War, Gangbang, Chaos, three-gang variants and a round-based Zombies mode. According to the Gamers.Wiki review, it was built in Unity and peaked at 68 concurrent players.

What changed in Hood Warfare 2?

Why is Hood Warfare 2 controversial?

Alongside its viral success, the game has drawn criticism for its depiction of gang stereotypes and for reducing Black communities in Chicago to gang violence, as Complex reported. At the same time, it holds a Very Positive user rating on Steam.

The Steam page carries a developer disclaimer stating that neither Hood Warfare nor Trapstar Games promotes or condones real-life gang violence, and that the game is a work of fiction for entertainment. The developer’s content description lists violence, blood effects, crude humor and profanity.
